Tim Frampton

On August 15 of this year we lost a one of our own.  Tim was one of the original members of the Island Hobby Group (IHG) as well as a member of IPMS St. John’s and IPMS Canada.  Tim was a friend to all that met him, and to a privileged few he was as close as a brother.  For those of us that were fortunate enough to know Tim, we knew he was one of the most generous, kind hearted, and happy-go-lucky guys you could ever hope to know.  Even though he had his health problems these past two years, he rarely let on to how he was feeling, and if he did, he'd always crack a joke about it.  He loved life to the fullest, as much as he could at least.  He'd take his motorcycle out for a short ride even though he knew he'd be in pain for days after.  Tim was the type that would be a pauper a week after winning the lottery, because he'd give it all away.  He was one of those special people that never "put on airs", he was who he was.  If you didn't like it, then too bad.  In my nine years of knowing him I can't remember ever hearing him talking ill of anyone, regardless of how much they may have upset him.  He accepted people no matter how flawed, and would definitely give them a chance before most would.

For those that have been to our shows or have looked through IHG.ca, members of IHG and IPMS you'll remember how good a modeller he was too.  He’d always try new techniques and ideas, and had a habit of testing them on expensive kits.  One of his familiar sayings was "go big or go home".  He'd do things that others would cringe at, and even if it looked like he screwed it up, the kit would always come out looking like a masterpiece.  He was an imaginative and creative person, and the world will be a much duller place without him in it.  I am honoured to have called him my best friend.  Tim, you will be missed.  The collective is incomplete without you.  Rest in peace.
