National Director

The ND mentioned that the previous month had been a busy one.

Deadwood needed to be cut from the National Executive, and that had been done.

RT Editor
The 'blues' for RT 27/3 will arrive this week and the editor will get together with Bob M. to check them out.

So far, the aviation portion of RT 27-4 will be primarily a Randy Lutz issue.  But, the ND mentioned that numerous irons are in the fire regarding additional aviation material from previously untapped sources.

The editor also noted that he needs more aircraft reviews (models, books, etc.).

The editor needs a CD burner. As this is an editorial need, the funds will be supplied

Treasurer
All bills have been paid, and the financial position is good.

A financial report was promised for the next meeting.

Yesterday the postage increased, especially for foreign mail. But, John M. noted that even with those increases, the annual dues will still cover costs.

Membership/Circulation
Debbie Lutz has taken over this portfolio. She will be getting together with John M. to learn her duties, and the working of the current membership system.

Although the system is ca. 16 years old, it still performs well; but, John M. will check out the appropriate commercial/shareware programs to see if an easier-to-use modern equivalent exists.

Of the 41 new members since the last RT mailing, 39 came via the website.

Webmaster
Graham M. has received relevant website material and passwords from Bob M.

The 1st priority of the new Webmaster is to create links to the local chapters.

He also hopes to rejuvenate the discussion page. He will report on this next month.

The ND queried the matter of who should get mail boxes on the site. Bob M. opined that a central mailbox is the best solution to communications from the members. This would ensure that material is scanned by one person and then sent on to the appropriate portfolio, and would prevent the loss or misplacing of messages.

Special Projects
Rather than wait forever for additional info on 424 Sqn P-51s, Randy Lutz will concentrate his efforts on those of 442 Sqn. He already has the markings for four aircraft in mind. Bob M. will do the artwork.

The idea was floated of beginning research on a decal sheet covering Canadian Sabres/Dakotas/T-33s/Lead sleds in NATO service in Europe. Concrete ideas were requested for the February meeting.

John M. suggested that a 1/48th decal sheet for 111 Sqn. be created. Perhaps Bob M. still has the artwork for this. The project was approved.

The idea of using newly discovered IPMS Canada stickers to raise some extra revenue was quickly and decisively laughed down.

Bob M. was also asked to supply 40 more instruction sheets for the 1/72 scale 111 Sqn decal sheet.

Bob M. was asked to create an ad for the "Aces" decals for RT 27/3

John M. was asked to send sample sheets of the "Aces" decals to various national IPMS branches.

The idea of a sheet of Canadian Typhoon decals was discussed, without much enthusiasm. "They're awfully dull," commented one honourable member.
