Old Business

Jamie advised the Exec that a revised version of the letter to the President of IPMS/USA was ready to send out.  It is now less diplomatic in its language and more direct in its message.  (See previous minutes for the issues being addressed).

With the delivery of this letter to IPMS/USA, we will be re-directing our resources towards supporting Canadian content in IPMS Canada Chapter contests.

National Director

With the new direction for our Canadian content contest support, Sid is now being urged to hasten his design process for the new award.  Randy will act as our procurer in this matter when the design is finalized.

In his Chapter Liaison role, Jean Gratton will be generating a draft set of ground rules and guidelines for the Charter Chapters to use in this matter.

Jamie proposed that we identify a suitable brochure display stand from Business Depot and send these out to the Chapters as a way to drum up new members from the field.

RT Editor

It was unanimously agreed that just about everything about RT 27/5 was a quantum leap above the 27/4 issue.

RT 27/6 will have lots of aircraft topics.  The Editor is desperately seeking armour articles from those modellers with the writing ability.  Several have been promised but none have been delivered.

The RT publishing schedule is still dropping behind our plan for six issues per year.  It was suggested that Sid needs to stretch out and plan his RT production schedule, with regards to proofreading, proofing, and the printing of the issues.

Ideas were kicked around for increasing the article stockpile, but it comes down to the same old story; we can only publish what we can squeeze out of the membership.

Treasurer

John mailed in his report this month (if John’s reports come in from the non-extradition tropical islands, we’re always nervous).

All cheques have been deposited and all the bills are paid, and we are still sitting with money in our bank account.

Having been away at the last meeting when he was shanghaied volunteered to take on this new portfolio, Jean had nothing specific to report this month.

Archivist

In a late-breaking story, it was reliably reported that the Archives Cabinet has finally moved to Randy’s house.  Yes, you heard it, the Archives Cabinet has moved!  And so did the collective bowels of the Exec members, because when we heard it had actually happened, we all just sh….

Chapter Liaison

IPMS Edmonton solicited us for freebie stuff for the Canadian content contest mentioned in the ND’s report.   Sad to say, the good old days of ‘graft’ merchandise from the manufacturers has dried up, so all we were able to offer was some of our own decals.

The Canadian content contest was discussed.  Jean volunteered (for real this time) to draft up some guidelines for discussion and eventual publication on the website.  If anyone has ideas they’d like to put forward for this project, please contact Jean directly or through the e-mail address at the website.

The hit count is still very encouraging, and the mail is being forwarded or answered.

The Vic Scheuerman photos of Willy McKnight’s Hurricane were shown around to Exec members.  Saying it’s just ‘nice work’ would be a gross understatement.  They will be published on the website as a top priority.

John will bring his digital camera to the November Exec meeting to get some suitable portraits for the biographies.

A 'Members Only' area of the website will be investigated for possible implementation.

Special Projects

The new XXX XXXXX decal artwork is at the printers and should be back in our hands by mid-November.  Distribution details to be announced.

After the total cost for all decal sheet materials have been determined (e.g., colour instructions, bags, tags, etc.), the price for the sheet will be subsidized for current members.  The non-member’s price will be subsidizing the sheet for the faithful.
