The
formal part of the meeting was called to
order at 2000 hrs, 06 July 2004 at the home of Steve Sauvé. The
preamble consisted of a dip in the Sauvé swimming pool, followed by burnt
offerings on the BBQ, plus suitable libations. It should be noted that
although she was absent this evening, Debbie Lutz was kind enough to send a
salad, along with husband Randy. And we'll just leave that 'open net'
shot alone....

Old Business
Jamie noted that it had been almost four months since our last Exec
meeting. Apparently the world can get along pretty well without us
meeting each month.
The sponsorship for IPMS Ottawa's CapCon contest has finally been taken care
of.

National Director
We received a letter from IPMS Can-UKs advising us of a problem that they've
having trying to put on a display at the IPMS UK Nats in Telford. IPMS
UK normally gives courtesy space to non-IPMS UK groups, but this request does
not meet with the spirit of that offer. Jamie will send an e-mail to
IPMS UK and to IPMS Can-UKs' Andy Binks to try and find a way to resolve this
situation.

RT Editor
RT 29/1 is well underway.
John MacDonald suggested that we could look at going to a quarterly format as
a way of saving postage costs.
Some errors in RT have once again shown us that pre-press proof reading needs
its own time to be done properly. We can't rush it or skip it.
Sid would like a 17" monitor for doing RT. A good qulaity used item will be identified and procured.
Some issues with our printer came up. Centre spreads were missing from a
number of copies. Jean agreed to handle the QC problems associated with
production.

Treasurer
Apparently we're in good shape, but the balance has been trickling down.
We're not making money on the retail decal line.
We are expecting a large number of renewals with the mailing of RT 28/6
John announced that a financial statement is coming at the end of the RT 28/6
renewal cycle.

Membership/Circulation
Comments from renewals were passed to Sid for inclusion in RT.
Since last meeting we've had 13 new members sign up, 56 renewals (out of 118
sent out). 16 renewals came in from RT 28/3, and 3 renewals with RT
28/4.
Debbie Lutz' phoned-in report indicated that she needs to get a new computer
and a way of converting the old database into some software that was made in
this century. Obviously this is a problem we have to fix.
To do this, John MacDonald asked for two weeks to investigate, and come to a
go/no go decision whether we can fix the problem or hire someone who can.
Jamie suggested we go to a calendar year renewal cycle, but that won't
work unless RT comes out on time. Jamie said something called 'process
mapping' would help us achieve this.

Marketing
We have sold some stuff via the letter that was sent out in March 2004.
Bob suggested selling in volume to our Chapters at our retail discount.
This could be a revenue generator for a Chapter. We would like to sell a
minimum of ten units each to an interested group.

Special Projects
Sales have been good this month.
Our Luftwaffe Weapons book is being surpassed by a new commercial
product. This may affect the long term viability of this product for
IPMS Canada.
Whaddya gonna do?
