Old Business-National Director
It was noted with some embarrassment that we haven't held a formal Executive
meeting since February. Despite that things are still in reasonably good
working order.

New Business-National Director
Long-time member Gary Barling stepped up to the plate and took on the vacant
Chapter Liaison portfolio. Gary's been very
busy making and re-establishing contact with the troops.
The ND asked that Gary vet all incoming Chapter publications for possible RT
material. He will liaise directly with the Editor on this.
Jamie is sending out cheques to cover our
sponsorship obligations that we've taken on recently.
Back in the summer of 2003, it appears that one John Tate of Albuquerque, NM,
was overlooked by the organizers but had apparently won the Best Canadian
Subject Award (for a Malta Spitfire V). Jamie will be arranging for a
traditional tankard, hopefully for delivery to John at the US Nats in
Kansas City, MO in August 2006. John will be asked to contact IPMS/USA
directly to try and arrange for the plaque award delivery.

Membership/Circulation
Of 152 renewals sent out, we received, and I quote, "a whole whack of 'em
back".
John has not found any viable options for reducing the postal costs using
Canada Post.
We need a new type of postage meter to meet Canada Post's new rules.
Some ideas that were tossed
around to deal with the postage and mailing costs were:

Before we try to grow the membership, we need to get a solid handle on
membership costs vs. the annual dues we charge. Especially on foreign
members, we are effectively losing money on each membership.

Chapter Liaison
(via e-mail)
Gary would like to get the chapter charters and
other associated documents as soon as possible.
We still have the new Hamilton, Ontario group to get chartered (to be known as
the Canadian Warplane Heritage Modellers), and Gary would like
to do that soon. Anything that can get those documents up here will be
appreciated.
Gary believes that the IPMS De Havilland RT special is in hand now, but
he's heard nothing further since the extended email exchange of a few months
ago.
Gary will be attending the IPMS UK nationals in November, no doubt holding
meetings of import with modelling diplomats the mother country. He will also
be attending a meeting of IPMS Farnborough, which is now 'twinned' with IPMS
Ottawa (Gary's local chapter).
Stuff we talked about while Gary wasn't there
The ND would like Gary to solicit intel from the Charter Chapters regarding
which shops in their areas are 'IPMS Canada friendly'. This is info we
want to start putting on the webpage for our travelling members, and also to
have a possible locations for IPMS Canada advertising.

Special Projects
There was a discussion about what we were going to do about those new members
who joined up after RT 29/4 was published, but who will now be receiving a
free 441 Sqn Mustang decal sheet with no instructions. It was decided
that we would load up a PDF file (created by article author Dennis Weber) and
make it available on the website for downloading to those members who need it,
and for any other modellers who want to buy a copy of the few surplus decal
sheets we are going to have left. We are not planning on printing up hard
copies of either the original article or PDF file for distribution.
With the distribution of the 441 Sqn decal sheet, Sid will be putting a note
into RT 30/1 explaining what we've done and where members can get a copy of
the article on the website.
We are going to proceed with a test of scanning an extinct RT volume year, to
see if this is a viable means of making these issues available for sale to members and non-members.
Bob Mig and/or Jamie will scan up the volume and we'll proceed from
there. We will be consulting with member Dennis Weber as he has been a
big proponent of this initiative and his experiences with creating
high-quality PDF files will be valuable assets on this project.
To help spread the scanning workload around, we may approach interested and
techno-savvy members to get involved with the scanning end of the project, as
a way to help spread the workload around. After we do some tests we'll
be setting out the scanning parameters we'd want people to work with and see
how that goes. Of course this also means that the volunteers would have
to have in their libraries complete volume years of the old RTs we are going
after.
John will be checking
into security and copyright protection issues that may be employed to protect
our investment.
