Old Business-National Director
The long-overdue pewter tankard for the Best Canadian Subject at the IPMS/USA
2004 Nats is now on the way to John Tate via Don Alberts. John Tate was
unable to make it to the Nats in KC thanks to some moron dropping a concrete
block through his windshield while he was driving under a highway
overpass. Seriously.

New Business-National Director
In the wake of a three-year deal that IPMS Canada had with IPMS/USA, the Best
Canadian Subject award (the traditional award that the Branch has covered
since the beginning of time) was sponsored by IPMS Winnipeg. FYI, the
winner at Kansas City was Rich van Zandt with a very nice
CF-18. IPMS
Canada will automatically take on this traditional responsibility
at future IPMS/USA National Conventions.

RT Editor
Sid is progressing on the completion of RT 30/1.
A number of improvements to maintain the quality and national relevance of RT
were discussed for adoption:
- credit IPMS Chapters in the
article by-lines
- credit photographers
- a more serious vetting of
submitted articles with an eye to
shifting some
items directly to the website as supplementary features
- we will develop article
submission quality which will discuss quality, content,
and sample
layouts. This will go to Gary Barling for distribution to the
Chapters and to
Steve for publication on the website
- Jamie has again agreed to
produce a comprehensive RT photo shooting
article for the
webpage.

Chapter Liaison
(via e-mail)
DE HAVILLAND SPECIAL PROJECT
Gary received an email from Derek Pennington regarding the quality of
photos used for RT, and how that topic seems to have adversely affected the
DH Special Project. Forwarded to Sid for comment as RT Editor.
UPDATED CHAPTER INFORMATION
RECORDS
The new Chapter Information Record form has been emailed to all
Chapters for updating. To date, Gary has received five returns, having asked
for them by early September.
KITS FOR KANDAHAR
Gary Porter has agreed to write up a report on the Kits for Kandahar
project for RT. He will do so once the project is complete
CHAPTER CONTEST SCHEDULES
Updated listings for Chapter contests will be drafted from the
various CIR returns and forwarded to Steve for posting on the IPMS Canada
website.
IPMS HAMILTON, ONTARIO
Tony Hayes has received all IPMS Hamilton Chapter startup documents via email. Once he sends them to
Gary, we can
charter IPMS Hamilton as an official IPMS Canada Chapter. Gary needs the Charter
package from Sid to produce the Charters.
IPMS CANADA FRIENDLY HOBBY
STORES
Chapters have been contacted to provide this information. Gary will forward them to Steve for the IPMS
Canada webpage
IPMS LIONEL "LEO"
CLARKE, VC: WATERDOWN, ONTARIO.
No further correspondence has
been received. Gary will follow up to see if he can make any contact.
Another IPMS/USA Chapter in Tennessee, mostly from Memphis is making some
serious noises about becoming an IPMS Canada Charter Chapter. Jamie and
Randy met these good ole' boys while at the Nats in KC and found them to be
great people, great modellers, and great beer drinkers. So what's not to
like?

Special Projects
Bob Migliardi tried scanning up the complete Vol 15 of RT. The math
worked out to about 45 sec/page. We believe we still need to fine tune
the scanning parameters before proceeding. Steve will contact member
Dennis Weber for his thoughts on the topic.
